A Delta flight with 54 passengers and four crew members skidded off the runway at Des Moines International Airport. This incident occurred at 9:30 p.m. while returning from Detroit. The icy conditions caused the aircraft to leave the paved taxiway during landing, as confirmed by Delta. Thankfully, everyone on board was unharmed, and all passengers were safely evacuated. The airport remained closed for several hours following the event.
A winter storm impacted the Midwest over the Thanksgiving weekend. More than 1,900 flights were canceled on Saturday, with over 700 cancellations reported on Sunday. Major cities like Chicago, New York, Boston, and Des Moines experienced significant disruptions. In Indiana, heavy snowfall led to a massive pileup on Interstate 70, resulting in 45 vehicles colliding at approximately 11:28 a.m. on Saturday.
